These little pom poms are perfect to accessorize your hair, to add to a bookmark, or to tie on top of a practically perfect Christmas gift. And they’re so easy! You’ll need a little bit of yarn, a fork, and scissors.
Start by cutting a small length of yarn and threading it between the center tines of the fork. Push it towards the base of the fork.
Wrap a longer piece of yarn around the tines of the fork several times. Experiment and see how full you like your pom poms to be. There’s no right or wrong. The more loops, the fuller your pom pom will be.
Take your original piece of yarn and knot it around the center of your loops while all the yarn is still on the fork. Don’t double knot it yet. You’ll want to pull it tighter once it’s off the fork.
Pull the pom pom off the fork and tie it as tight as you can get it, then double knot it. Leave the tails long. Clip all the loops at the furthest point from the knot. At this point, your pom pom will be a little unruly. You can leave it like this or you can clip it into a more perfect circle. Just be sure to leave those tails!
Use the tails you left to tie onto a gift or another project. If you want to wear them in your hair, simply slide a bobby pin through the center loop, the one you knotted, and then trim the tails.
Super cute and super fun!
