She loved the corner piece. The frosting was her favorite, she loved it even more than the cake. And since the corner had more frosting real estate, that was always her choice. Better yet was if there were mounds of piped-on flowers collecting in the corners. Who cared about eating the “Happy Birthday” when there were thick sweet petals to be had? She always wanted to cut the cake, too. Yes, it was because she liked serving people and yes, she liked seeing that the guests were served first. But I know her secret- she really wanted to wipe the extra frosting off the knife and onto her own plate.
