What I’m Thankful For
I wake up healthy, warm, safe.
The brand-new day bubbling up from the dew with a bright clarity no other moment can offer.
The sunrise and morning air.
I am in the presence of the God I serve, who rejoices in my praise, listens to every silly request I make, soothes my heartbreaks and equips me to face what needs facing.
I have fresh, clean water to wash with and drink. Food in the pantry and clean clothes to wear.
The sound of my father’s voice. Support, love and my lifeline.
I can easily connect with the beautiful souls I love. A few taps of my fingers and the miles slip away.
The memories of my mother.
Music. One word that means so much. Joy, praise, anguish, memories, love. Light tempered with shadow.
Words. Art. The joy of creating something that never existed before. Bliss.
My baby brother. Gifted, kind and pure of heart.
Best friends. The people who know exactly where I’m coming from. The ones that have been there with me through it all. The ones who teach me about myself.
I am blessed by the unconditional love of many. I treasure it so.
Happy sunshine. Friendly rain. Thrilling storms. Chilling winds. Blue, whispering snow. Clouds in the sky and clouds on the ground.
My books. I read stories I don’t yet know and make new friends. I revisit old ones and remember past moments: what I was listening to, which teacup I was drinking out of, where I was when I read it the first time.
Sunset and the quiet night drifting down from above.
Light to read by long after dark.
When I go to sleep, I know I am exactly where I’m supposed to be. And I’m excited for everything I will become. I’m thankful for the chance to be more than I was today.
